LIVE CONCERTS!

LIVE CONCERT
Christopher Duigan plays music by Clementi, Schumann and Beethoven's Sonatas Op. 53 'Waldstein' and Op. 27 No. 1.  The year 2020 is the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth in 1770! Many major festivals and concerts were planned for the year. For this 'live' concert  Christopher Duigan plays Muzio Clementi's Sonata in F-sharp minor,  a work that Beethoven admired.  Robert Schumann intended the sale of copies of his Fantasie, Op.17 to support an appeal for funds to erect a monument to Beethoven in his birthplace, Bonn in 1836.  Beethoven's 'Waldstein' Sonata is one of the composers's most optimistic compositions. Booking is essential as places are limited.

Tuesday 8  September 2020

As you may have seen our livestream failed last Saturday evening.  Apologies to those of you who were were ready and waiting (including those who dressed for the occasion)!  Thank you for your patience.

We appear to have clarity on the issue which has been the cause of all the recent problems with our new studio set-up.  All is pointing to inadequate processing power of my computer equipment at the centre of the entire operation!

Please continue to contribute if you are enjoying our livestream project. Your support  enables us to continue working, to create and produce these livestream performances, and also to cover the considerable ongoing costs of staging these events. This includes the cost of suitable studio equipment, and now, new computer equipment too!

As I have spent two weeks researching and attempting to solve the mammoth production issues, my preparation has not been on the performances itself.  I am rescheduling the programmes as follows:

THIS WEEK'S FACT FOCUS
YOU MUSIC WATCH THIS!
One of several institutions offering live-streams on the web is the Chopin Institute in Poland.  Performances are streamed from the museum house in which Chopin was born at Żelazowa Wola.  Pianist Łukasz Krupiński played this concert Sunday 19 July and I was personally  captivated by what I call 'the perfect balance':  restraint, fluidity, poise but with brilliance and fire without ever being 'overbearing'.  This is is how I think Chopin would have liked his music be played!  Have a listen!  IT IS JUST PERFECT!
